Do you think about Dumbo? I do. I think about the characters a lot actually. I think about the cruelty inflicted on Mrs. Jumbo. I think about the perceived weakness of Dumbo’s giant ears, only to find out he can fly!

I also think about Casey Jr. Most of the time we think of the attraction at Disneyland when we picture this particular circus train. Will we sit in the cage like monkeys, or will we score a ride in the caboose? Good times!

It’s easy to laugh and smile. It’s easy to forget the load and pretend everything’s okay; until it’s not anymore.

What mountain are you facing? Is there an obstacle that seems impossible?

See, I think we remember images like this, and think that’s how life should be all the time.Pic1

So we all wish we faced a life of flower wreaths and pretty bows…or is that just me?

We forget about what it takes to enjoy success. We gloss over the tough, and pretend to live in Fantasyland. We’re supposed to be happy, right?

I’ll be honest, there are plenty of times I’ve felt like this…just stick me in a cage and stay away.Pic2

Thank goodness for God’s voice. Thank goodness He calls me out to face the challenges of those hills.

For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13

You know how to conquer your hill? Simply put, don’t stop climbing it.

Now take a look at what Casey Jr. really faces each day.

Straining against the burden of a heavy load. Using every bit of energy to make it over the summit. And look at the focus and concentration written on his face. Following that single beam of light through the darkness.

Don’t give up, my friends. Whatever it is you’re facing, don’t quit.

Better yet, hand over the heavy lifting.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Psalm 68:19

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Team up with the giver of endless energy.

…but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Remember where to focus.

My eyes are ever toward the LORD… Psalm 25:15

Always follow the light.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5

Jesus wants to help us over every hill. Let Him turn the strain of your “I think I can” into the joy of an “I thought I could”.

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20

With just a speck of faith – turning towards Him to become the engineer of your life – you’re on the right track!
