Back from my first Disney cruise, and one of the things I just had to be a part of was decorating our stateroom doors. If you’re not familiar with what I’m talking about, the doors to each room aboard Disney’s ships are magnetic. Guests decorate their doors in all sorts of fun ways, so I thought I’d share what I did.

First of all, you must use magnets for your decorations. No tape is allowed. Also, people will tell you that decorations are great for finding your room along the ships’ long corridors. I guess this could be helpful, but I found that finding our room was no more difficult than at a hotel. The point of door decorations is really just to have fun!

We had two staterooms aboard the Disney Wonder and our rooms were directly across from each other. My aunt and I stayed in an inner cabin, and my parents, uncle, and grandfather shared a room with a verandah.

I started by using Avery 8 ½ inch by 11 inch printable magnet sheets. You can buy those from Amazon here.

For my parents’ room I chose a classic, Mouseketeer theme.

The sign reads “Hey there! Hi there! Ho there! We’re so glad to be at sea!”

Click on the following links if you’d like the sign and mouse ears for your stateroom. The mouse ears have been saved as a Word document so that you can add text boxes to personalize with any names you’d like.
Mouse Ears Sign      Mouse Ears

To create the “stitching” on each of the mouse ears, I downloaded ‘Learning Curve Dashed’ font, and typed each name using bright yellow as my text color. You can download this font here.

Here are some pictures of the decorations on my stateroom door…

I chose a paper doll theme for me and my aunt. Remember, our ship was the Wonder, as in ‘WONDERful’.

I had such a great time decorating our doors, and hope this gives you some ideas for your own decorations.
