Above the Fire Department on Main Street in Disneyland is a window with a single lamp glowing. Most Disney fans know the story behind this lamp. The window looks out from Walt Disney’s apartment. Whenever he was in residence, he would leave the light on so cast members would know he was present in the park.

After Walt’s death, this lamp has become a symbol of remembrance for the creator of all things Disney.

I love this story, and I don’t know of a time in recent years that I haven’t noticed Walt’s lamp when visiting Disneyland. I enjoy Disney history so much that for my 40th birthday trip my husband and I took the ‘Walk in Walt’s Footsteps’ tour, getting to go inside Walt’s apartment.

How often do you feel remembered? Is it more likely that you feel forgotten?

God is all about remembering. Your Creator never forgets, and we are reminded of this throughout the Bible.

In Genesis, God promises Noah that He will never again flood the Earth, and as a symbol of this covenant we’ll see a rainbow each time it rains.

I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Genesis 9:13

God remembers the Israelites, enslaved in Egypt, and rescues them.

Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God. So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob… Exodus 2:23-24

When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the LORD our God commanded you?’ then you shall say to your son, ‘We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the LORD brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand… Deuteronomy 6:20-21

YOU are always on God’s mind. YOU are never forgotten.

He knew you before you were born…

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you… Jeremiah 1:5

He cares for you, never even sleeping…

He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. Psalm 121:4

He knows every detail about you…

Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Luke 12:7

He has a tattoo of your name (sort of)…

Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands… Isaiah 49:15-16

Your knuckles say “COBRA”.

He loves you…

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17

…God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Hope this helps convince you that forgetting you is simply not possible. If you struggle with feeling like you’re not on anyone’s radar, try remembering that you’re always on the One’s radar, for you are truly, dearly loved!
